Part 1 of the offer

Bring appropriate trust information together.

A connected data foundation is the groundwork that makes trust-wide reporting, comparison and AI assistance possible—and trustworthy.

What this involves

Eight practical steps

  • Map existing systems across the central team and every school
  • Identify the information that is genuinely relevant to management questions
  • Establish ownership for each source and each definition
  • Create agreed data definitions so terms mean the same thing everywhere
  • Introduce appropriate data connections, subject to supplier approval
  • Monitor data quality and make gaps visible rather than hidden
  • Record provenance for every material figure
  • Create a secure foundation for reporting and AI

Deployment

Architecture is agreed individually

There is no single answer. What is appropriate depends on your existing environment, data protection position and supplier arrangements.

The trust's cloud environment

Hosted inside infrastructure the trust controls.

A securely managed environment

Managed on the trust's behalf under agreed terms.

Approved APIs

Where a supplier provides and permits programmatic access.

Controlled scheduled transfers

Agreed extracts on an agreed timetable.

Secure imports

Structured files loaded through a controlled process.

Public data

DfE and other published information, with sources shown.

Manually maintained operational information

Records held directly in the platform where no system exists.

Integration availability depends on supplier APIs, permissions and commercial arrangements. No connector is described as live unless it has been built and verified for your trust.

Where information lives today

Your information is already there. It is just in different places.

These are examples of the information sources a trust may hold. Each source would be introduced only where lawful, appropriate and agreed.

Minimal data

Many management questions do not need pupil-level detail

Where a question can be answered with aggregated or cohort-level information, that is what we introduce.

What does “Data lake” mean?

A controlled central environment that brings together information from different systems for analysis.

What does “Predictive analytics” mean?

Using previous and current patterns to estimate where a problem may be more likely to emerge.

What does “Agentic AI” mean?

Software that can carry out a sequence of preparation steps and then return to a person for a decision.

What does “Semantic model” mean?

An agreed set of definitions so that a term such as “persistent absence” means the same thing everywhere.

What does “Data provenance” mean?

A record of where a number came from, when it was collected and what was done to it.

What does “Machine learning” mean?

A way of finding patterns in previous information to make estimates about new information.
